Our family moved to West Sacramento in 1987 when my father was hired as Assistant Port Director—the same year the city was incorporated. It feels as though we have grown up together.
Our small city has a very big heart. The underlying generosity of spirit and willingness to creatively think outside the box have laid the foundation for our future, and now we are putting the pieces in place that will define West Sac for decades to come.
Looking ahead, things are exciting and optimistic! At the same time, we need to keep focused on the very real challenges families in West Sacramento face every day, right now. People are still hurting as we negotiate the uncertainties created by the pandemic. We need to re-establish access to affordable childcare, mental health resources, and local quality-paying jobs. I know it’s important for our community to come together in safe-space, family-based events. And it’s time to begin redeveloping our West Sac options for dining and social opportunities.
As many of you know, I’ve always thrown my whole self into everything I’ve been involved with. I’ve focused on connecting people and resources, creating open dialogue, finding innovative solutions, and developing neighborhood programs that show measurable results.
Now, as a mother with my own young family, I would be honored to serve as your City Councilmember—to advocate for West Sac families, strengthen support for local business, and help West Sac continue to grow in a vibrant, equitable, and thoughtful way.
District elections are designed to ensure regional diversity in the representation on City Council. Making sure City Council is comprised of residents throughout the various geographic communities ensures that more community specific issues and concerns are understood and addressed by the council.
